3-Day North Albania Tour: Kruja, Theth , Blue Eye , Shkoder , Shala River

Kruja

Our first visit should be the city of Kruja , the historical city of our national hero Scanderbeg, where we will learn more about the history of Albania in general and the figure of Scanderbeg.

Rozafa Castle

We drive towards the beautiful North of Albania, with the majestic Castle of Rozafa as our first destination. Perched atop a hill, overlooking the city, the Castle is steeped in Albanian history, from antiquity to the Iliryan-Roman wars. Cascaded with legends, the Castle stands as a reminder of the timelessness of Albanian Epos.

Shkodra City Tour

Leaving the Castle, we travel down to the vibrant city of Shkoder! With its unique architecture, hilarious sense of humour, and warm hospitality, this city is an essential part of Albania’s history. It is also a place of great religious tolerance, with a Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, and Muslim Mosque all in close proximity. Let’s embark on a journey of discovery, exploring the most exciting parts of Shkoder, including the illustrious “Pedonale”!

On the lake shores of Scadar Lake- Shiroke Village

When we have finished exploring the beauties of Shkodra city we can pay a visit to a small touristic village on the Shkodra Lake Shores famous for the traditional fish restaurant where we can also enjoy our lunch.

Overnight in  Shkoder 

Theth Village & Church
Start early with a scenic drive deep into the Albanian Alps to reach the remote village of Theth. Surrounded by towering peaks and fresh alpine air, Theth feels like stepping into another world. You’ll visit the iconic Theth Church, a peaceful symbol of the village set against a dramatic mountain backdrop.

Reconciliation Tower (Kulla e Ngujimit)
Nearby, you’ll explore the Reconciliation Tower, a stone tower historically used to mediate blood feuds. This fascinating structure offers a glimpse into the highland traditions and social codes that once governed life in these remote valleys

Blue Eye of Theth
Then begins a beautiful 1-hour hike (each way) to reach the Blue Eye of Theth, a dazzling natural spring where crystal-clear water gushes out of the rocks. Surrounded by dense forest and cliffs, it’s one of Albania’s most picturesque hidden gems. You’ll have time to relax by the pool or take a dip in the refreshing, icy-blue waters before hiking back.
Return to Shkoder in the late afternoon for overnight.

Fjord Boat Ride & River Escape

We depart Shkoder at 08:00 and head to Komani Lake (approx. 1h20min drive). From here, we embark on a 1.5-hour boat journey through what is often described as “the fjords of Albania”—a spectacular ride between steep cliffs, lush slopes, and emerald waters.

Our destination is the breathtaking Shala River, accessible only by boat and known for its crystal-clear waters and dramatic setting. You’ll have 2–3 hours of free time to swim, relax on the white stone beaches, or enjoy a riverside lunch at a traditional wooden guesthouse.

In the afternoon, we return by boat to Komani and continue the journey back to Tirana (approx. 3.5 hours), where the tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
